Company History
Our roots in the solar heating industry go back to 1976, when Bristol Stickney (Partner, Director of Research and Design) began working with the New Mexico Solar Energy Association. Bristol subsequently worked in many capacities in the renewable energy industry, primarily designing, building, repairing, and engineering solar heating systems.
The greatest challenge Bristol faced as a “one-man show” was dependence on trade craftspeople outside his control. It became clear he needed to form a team of dedicated experts to ensure “whole system reliability,” from radiant flooring to boiler installation to solar collector placement.
In 1992, Bristol left New Mexico to work with Amory Lovins at the Rocky Mountain E-Source Institute, and sold his solar heating company to Peter Biondo who renamed it “Golden Sun Solar.” In 1997, Joseph Annon (Partner, Service Manager), a licensed mechanical contractor, purchased Golden Sun Solar from Biondo.
The Cedar Mountain Solar team of experts assembled in 2004 when Bristol, who had returned to New Mexico to specialize in residential heating system design, joined with Joseph of Golden Sun Solar and Boaz Soifer (Partner, General Manager) whose prior involvement in installation, sales, project management, and business development with Positive Energy, Dankoff Solar Products, and Local Energy, exposed him to solar electric, solar heating, wind, biomass, and other renewable energy sub-industries on a local and national scale.
A year later, the partnership was completed with the addition of Joel Olson (Partner, Project Manager). Joel had operated “Olson Plumbing and Heating” for six years, specializing in radiant floor heating systems as a licensed mechanical contractor.
